Pet food

Wet food, dry food, treats and snacks in pouches.

Premium pet has moved to the pouch: wet food in retort with a seal that withstands sterilization, dry food in stand-up and box pouch, treats and snacks in smaller formats. Seal robustness and shelf stability are decisive.

Pet food
Typical products
  • Wet food (dog and cat)
  • Treats and snacks
  • Dry food
  • Fish food
Recommended pouch formats
Stand-up without zipper
Stand-up without zipper

Standing bag with bottom gusset, no zipper. More economical for single portions or fast-moving products.

Retort stand-up
Retort stand-up

Stand-up in retort-grade laminate: withstands sterilization (cooked in-pack). Wet pet food, ready meals and preserves.

Box pouch with zipper
Box pouch with zipper

Reinforced base and sides (quad-seal) with zipper. High volume and stability — coffee, granola and pet food.

Stickpack
Stickpack

Thin tube with crimp seal for a single dose — 5–30 g. Supplements, instant coffee, vitamins and pharma.

Recommended machines

The RT covers dry food in stand-up and box pouch; the RD steps in with volume; the RV adds vacuum and gas flushing for wet food and barrier-demanding products. Reinforced sealing ensures retort integrity.

How to select the model

Four variables define the right series and configuration for your line:

01

Pouch size

Finished pouch width and height define the series and number of stations. Larger pouches need wider gripper opening; small pouches unlock high-cadence duplex and quadplex architectures.

02

Production speed

Target throughput (BPM) drives the architecture: simplex for entry, duplex and quadplex for volume. We size with headroom for peaks without compromising the seal.

03

Weighing and dosing

Granules and powders require a multi-head weigher or auger filler; liquids and viscous products, volumetric or pump dosing. The dosing system is part of the line design.

04

Filler and nozzle

Nozzle and filler vary with viscosity, presence of solids and splash tendency. Diving nozzle, anti-splash and other options are added according to the product.
